Welcome to KindSight 20/20

Our team is unified under a single goal: to make the world a better place. We express this mission through philanthropy, and KindSight 20/20 is our flagship humanitarian program. For more than 20 years, our compassionate doctors has provided free eye care to thousands of people in underserved populations in Guatemala.

What is KindSight 20/20?

Four times a year, a team of optometrists and ophthalmologists travel to help people in need living in Guatemala to offer cataract surgeries, eyewear, eye exams and more. This tradition dates back to about the year 2000, when the now-retired Dr. Jim Gamble took his first trip to Chichicastenango, Guatemala to provide critical vision and eye health support. His eyes now opened to that need, Dr. Gamble began taking regular trips, and in time was joined by other MEC doctors. By 2008, KindSight 20/20 was born, and Missouri Eye Consultants began to formally support regular mission trips.

Our Impact:
Improving Thousands of Eyes & Lives

We donate $7 to KindSight 20/20 every time a patient purchases a pair of glasses. Through these donations and the dedication of our compassionate staff, we have helped many people in need on over forty trips to Chichicastenango, Guatemala.

We’ve partnered with the University of Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry — a group of passionate eye care professionals who share our vision for a better world. By combining our efforts, we’ve significantly expanded how many people we help, funded more frequent trips, and offered once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for budding eye doctors.

Learning & Serving

As part of this partnership, the University of Incarnate Word also sends teams of staff and optometry students to Guatemala in June and November, with financial support from Missouri Eye Consultants.
