Moberly Eye Center joins Missouri Eye Consultants
Dr. Wilkerson here.
I am writing this with excitement to announce that Moberly Eye Center is now a part of the Missouri Eye Consultants (MEC) family. However, I am also writing this with incredible sadness as we recently lost Dr. David Whitson, the previous owner of Moberly Eye Center, to his battle with cancer.
Originally, Moberly Eye Center was to come on board with MEC with Dr. Whitson and myself continuing to provide eye care at that location. Unfortunately, Dr. Whitson’s plans were forced to change due to his declining health.
Dr. Whitson became a fixture in the Moberly community by providing quality eye care since 1998. He was a loving husband and father with a great interest in the outdoors. Throughout my four years of practicing in Moberly with Dr. Whitson, the one thing that stood out to me was his passion. His passion for top notch eye care, his passion for treating every patient like it was his own family member, and his passion for continuous learning. I feel enormous privilege to have had such a tremendous mentor. It will always be my goal to continue to provide the same level of care that made Moberly Eye Center successful. I can think of no better way to pay tribute to such a great doctor than to continue what he started in a way that would make him proud.
For those of you who have been patients at MEC, you already know that the doctors and staff of MEC share that same passion for providing the highest quality care possible. That is why Dr. Whitson entrusted MEC with his office and patients. He finally found a group of people that could match his passion.
I will continue to provide patient care at Moberly Eye Center as I have since 2016 and will be joined by the newest member of the MEC team, Dr. Eliot Masek. By joining with Missouri Eye Consultants, our Moberly office will have additional efficiencies and resources. One of those resources is Dr. Nathan Hesemann. Dr Hesemann is an eye surgeon with expertise in cataract and general eye surgery. He will begin seeing patients on a regular basis at the Moberly office in the near future.
Dr. Whitson will be missed by so many. To honor him, all of us at MEC will work tirelessly to maintain the same high standards of care that Dr. Whitson and MEC have always provided.
