  • Dark or bright shimmers in your side vision
  • Halos around lights

Care Instructions

Even after you leave our office, we are here to guide you through your journey to clearer vision and a healthy recovery. Here are some important tips we put together to help you through the first week post-op, so your eyes heal with ease.

After your surgery, here are some important things you should remember to do:

  • Use your eye drops as prescribed
  • Take extra caution to protect your eyes from injury
  • Avoid rubbing your eyes or putting foreign substances in them
  • Continue to read, walk and watch television
  • Wear your eye shield at bedtime for the first week following surgery
  • If you use supplemental oxygen or a CPAP machine at night, continue to do so

There are a few things you should steer avoid after your cataract surgery, including:

  • Consuming alcohol, tranquilizers, sleeping pills or any non-prescription medication for 24 hours unless advised otherwise
  • Submerging your head underwater for the first two weeks after surgery
  • Wearing makeup for at least a week

“I always receive a thorough exam from Missouri Eye Consultants and feel that Dr. Don Vanderfeltz is very knowledgeable and a leader in his field. He does a good job at educating me about the condition of my eyes and providing eye care solutions. I entrust my vision to him. His staff also are very helpful and accommodating. The community of California, as well as surrounding areas, are very lucky to have such skilled eye care available to them.”

“Dr. DeRose has provided exceptional expertise at a much needed time. He was able to diagnose my condition when my doctor, ER docs, etc. couldn’t. Then he didn’t just stop there. He went out of his way to make sure I was cared for. It’s humbled me how he’s cared for me like a family member of his own. I will forever be indebted to him for helping me at a difficult time. I will always go to him for all my eye care needs and send him many recommendations.”
