Contact Lens Exams
At Missouri Eye Consultants, we provide specialized contact lens exams so you can achieve stunningly clear, glasses-free vision.
What is a Contact Lens Exam?
Put simply, a contact lens exam is a series of tests and measurements that allow us to personally match you with the correct lenses for your eye shape and prescription. These exams are required for contact lens wearers because, unlike your eyeglass prescription, your corrective lenses will sit on your eyes, instead of in front of them.
What Happens During a Contact Lens Exam
During your contact lens exam, our doctors will check your tear quality and measure your eye shape, cornea and pupil size. These measurements help us find any front-of-eye conditions that can dictate what kind of contact lenses you might need. Once we find the lenses that will suit your lifestyle and unique eyes the best, we’ll have you try them on to ensure they’re comfortable and fit well. Then, we’ll explain everything you need to know about proper wear and care for your contacts to make them last and reduce your risk of infection.

Personalized Specialty Lenses for You
If you have a condition like a large amount of astigmatism or irregular corneas that make your eyes “hard-to-fit,” we have specialty contact lenses to help you see clearly. We can supply and fit you with scleral lenses for keratoconus and dry eye; rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses that offer superior vision clarity for some conditions; and multifocals and hybrids for complex vision issues.
And for children with myopia, or nearsightedness, we offer MiSight 1day lenses. While glasses improve the blurry vision associated with myopia, these unique contacts are FDA approved to slow the progression of myopia and result in better long term eye health later in life.
